Never thought I’d had the opportunity to work on any Simpsons episodes, but here we are. Jorge R. Gutiérrez was invited to create a couch gag for the 35th Treehouse of Horror special and I was tapped to work on compositing and final image assembly (via Mighty animation).
I leaned heavily into the use of mini 2.5D sets even though the camera movement was going to be very restricted, mainly because I felt that the extra parallax details would make the whole project feel a bit more like the arcade fighting games it was paying homage to. It was a fantastic project and working with Jorge and his crew was a truly enjoyable ride.
Funny thing though: due to what I’m guessing was a clerical error my name was mistyped in the end credits and ended up as “Jurara Rayas”. Might have to legally change my name to that, eventually.
